Greetings,
FREEPHOTOSBANK is a web site offering free stock photos.
I have another free photo site to blog about today. I seem to encountered quite a few of them lately. This one is called FREEPHOTOSBANK and it’s not too bad although it does have it’s challenges.
The site itself is relatively generic with lots of pretty pictures on the home page. There’s also a subject menu so that users can browse the various categories such as “Nature”, “Objects” “Transportation”, “Life”, etc. in which the pictures are grouped. It makes browsing the collection very easy.
Key word searching is also available.
While there is no specific “Education” section, there are enough useful shots in other categories to make a visit worthwhile.
As for the pictures themselves, I have no idea under what type of licence or usage they are offered. That information is not found in the FAQ section, Photo Options or Photographer Information. There is simply a heading below each picture which say, “Download free photo”. Below the heading are two buttons, one for downloading the image as a “ZIP” compressed file and a second to download the picture as a “JPG” file.
FREEPHOTOSBANK is also affiliated with a commercial photo site called “Dreamstime” and that’s where the problems begin. It is very ease to mistakenly click on Dreamstime link and end up at a pay picture site. It’s very frustrating at first however, a little “care in clicking” goes a long way towards ensuring that the pictures being accessed are really the free ones.

Bottom line? I like FREEPHOTOSBANK. Despite it’s connection with a commercial picture site, this site does have a lot of free and beautiful pictures available. Users simply have to be a bit more diligent when locating them.
