PICTURE2LIFE: Online Photo Editor

Life1Greetings,

PICTURE2LIFE is an online photo editing service with lots of special effects.

Today’s offering – PICTURE2LIFE – provides the same sort of service – Photo Editing – as yesterday’s app, PICMONKEY but the two are as different as black and white.

Where PICMONKEY is simple, fast and easy to use, PICTURE2LIFE is more ponderous, ad filled and less intuitive.

The negative vibes begin with the registration process which is required before access to the program is allowed, The process is lengthy, tedious and at times, intrusive. Do these guys really need to know my gender, birthdate and phone number? That alone may be enough to dissuade most educators from proceeding further but I persevered, hoping the end results would make the effort worthwhile. To a certain extent, my efforts were rewarded.

PICTURE2LIFE is an okay picture editing program sharing most of the features found on similar applications. All the basics are there like cropping, rotating, resizing, etc. In addition, PICTURE2LIFE has some nice features such as “Quick Fixes” which control aspects like contrast, saturation and colour balance and “One Clicks” which contain a number of special effects such as blur, swirl, sketch, border, wave and many more.

Pictures can be uploaded from a local computer or imported from a photo sharing site like Flickr. Finished pictures can be saved back to the desk-top.

Bottom line? PICTURE2LIFE is a perfect example of a pretty good app trapped inside an onerous, tedious, ad filled web site. Unfortunately (IMHO), it’s not so good as to make the sign-up ordeal endurable – especially when apps like PICMONKEY have virtually the same functionality and require no sign-up.
