Greetings,
WEB WISE KIDS is a Facebook page containing numerous messages focusing on Internet safety for young people and adults.
At last! A useful application for Facebook.
I say that half in jest and half not, for I’m not be big Facebook fan. I find the user interface to be complex and convoluted and the frequent settings changes, disturbing. I also realize that Facebook has several hundred million users who probably don’t share my opinion.
Be that as it may, I do like today’s site. It’s called WEB WISE KIDS and it’s a Facebook wall filled with helpful hinds and good advice for staying safe on the web. For example, here’s their latest suggestion.
Web Wise Tip: Check up on your kids every now and then. Google their name once a month to see if they have online activity you don’t know about floating on the Internet. You can even set up daily Google alerts (http://www.google.com/alerts) that will send digests to your email with if anything with your child’s name is found online. And while you’re at it, do this for yourself, too!
Most of their message are like this: short, common sense type entries that users may have overlooked or not considered.

Bottom line. This a great site for parents with Internet age offspring mainly but also useful for young people and educators as well.
The site is free to use and no sign-up is needed for access.
