VIEWPURE is a web service which will display just a YouTube video.
YouTube is an incredible educational resource with content on virtually every topic imaginable. Unfortunately, it’s being under utilized by educators for many reasons including Internet blocks, filters, undesirable content and all the ads on the actual viewing page. While today’s app, VIEWPURE won’t solve all these problems, it comes pretty close.
VIEWPURE‘s main function is to provide a clean viewing window to watch a YouTube video clip by hiding all the other stuff on a typical YouTube page.
The app is simple to use. The user accesses VIEWPURE home page then jumps over to YouTude to locate the desired video clip. The URL for the video is copied and pasted into the VIEWPURE URL textbox. The chosen video can now be viewed with a plain white or black background. It also has a VIEWPURE URL, not a YouTube one which might be enough to sneak past some Internet filters.
To demonstrate VIEWPURE’s capabilities I used a YouTube Video called, “Education Today and Tomorrow”. The difference between the YouTube viewing page and the VIEWPURE viewing page is obvious.

Bottom line? VIEWPURE is simple to use and works well. Whether that’s enough to convince some educators to begin incorporating YouTube clips in their courses is another matter.
