Greetings,
MITTO is a free, web based password storage service.
Passwords are the bain of most computer user’s existence. Virtually every online service and many web based programs require them. Last time I checked, I has several hundred various username/password combos – one for every web service that required an account. While most folks don’t have that many to remember, several dozen is not unusual.
Once upon a time I used to keep a small notebook with all my account information. Inevitability, it would be at home, at school, in my other pants pocket or generally somewhere else, when I needed it. When computer based password management programs appeared, I was first in line. If I were not already using a program that I love to manage my passwords, MITTO would be very tempting.
Obviously, any password storage service had better be serious about security and MITTO obviously gets that. Not only are user required to create three separate security questions when they sign up for an account but they must also make up a phrase – about anything such as, “The rains in Spain stay mainly on the plain”. Then MITTO will include that phrase in every e-mail message sent to the user as a way to prove the message actually came from MITTO. Very thorough.

Once a user account has been created, MITTO also provides a couple of tools to help with make password management easy. One is a browser plugin which integrates with MITTO. Whenever a user creates a new ID and password for a web site, MITTO saves it automatically.
Another feature is a series of preconfigured links to popular sites like Facebook, eBay and Amazon.
Not bad for a free app.
