Greetings,
TEXTBOOK REVOLUTION is a student run web site with a listing of free, downloadable textbooks and other educational resources.
Free Textbooks?!? Yes, they do exist. Part of the open curriculum/content movement currently sweeping across many campuses. As the creators of the TEXTBOOK REVOLUTION web site put it,
“Textbook Revolution is a student-run site dedicated to increasing the use of free educational materials by teachers and professors. We want to get these materials into classrooms. Our approach is to bring all of the free textbooks we can find together in one place, review them, and let the best rise to the top and find their way into the hands of students in classrooms around the world.
Some of the books are in PDF format which can be downloaded while others are web based and viewable online. All of the books are offered for no-cost (gratis) by their respective copyright holders.
As expected, most items are post secondary in tone and format but there are a few items which might interest the K-12 educator. Here’s one example. It’s a downloadable PDF file entitled, “Getting Started With OpenOffice.org 3″ – a “must have” resource for anyone considering the jump from MS Office to Open Office.
And, any one teaching Western Civ or Comparative Civ will want to take a look at this online resource from the University of Washington.

The TEXTBOOK REVOLUTION web site is completely free to use and requires not account.
