JENUINE TECH: Online Clearing House of Collaborative Classroom Projects

Greetings,

JENUINE TECH is a web site with listings of projects which any class (with Internet access) can join and participate in.

One the earliest educational “hooks” for Internet connectivity was the potential for collaborating with other classes, across town, across the country or around the world. Like most lofty ideals, the devil was in the details – such as where to find other classes to collaborate with. Enter JENUINE TECH.

JENUINE TECH, created by well known tech educator, Jennifer Wagner in 1999. It’s purpose is to provide a clearinghouse of online educational projects in which any class (from K to Gr.6) can participate in.

For the most part, projects are relatively simple and easy to take part in. One example is the “Shape of Things” project. Students will create a collage or piece of art using ONLY triangles, circles, and squares. The shapes may be of any size, and use any type of material (paper, felt, plastic, jello, etc). Pictures are taken of completed artwork and uploaded to the online photo storage location.

It ain’t rocket science but it is at a level that most teachers can handle.

The above example is but one of several ongoing projects that are available for participation.

To get involved however, does require teacher (but not student) registration.

Enjoy :-)
