FONTPICKER: Free Downloadable App For Managing Fonts

Greetings,

FONTPICKER is a free downloadable app for managing system fonts.

I’m terrible when it comes to managing fonts. I’ll download several styles for a particular project then forget about them afterwards. As a result, I currently have 540 fonts installed on my computer and probably use fewer then the a dozen on a regular basis. According to Apple, the number of fonts installed does not affect system performance but, I wonder. As for Windows, I suspect the same is true.

There are many programs available for keeping track of and managing system fonts. Most are proprietary, (work with Windows only or Mac only) and some are very pricey but, not FONTPICKER. It’s different in acouple of ways.

First of all – it’s free!

Secondly, FONTPICKER is built on Adobe’s AIR which means it will work with Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems (Adobe AIR must also be installed).

In terms of functionality, FONTPICKER is very simple to use. Launching the program brings up a list of all the fonts installed on the computer.

Each font is rendered exactly as it would appear in a document. To the right of each font example. The “X” can be use to delete the font if it is no longer needed.

That’s basically all it does, list of all the fonts installed on the computer and provide a way to delete one or more of them. That may not seem like much but, for users searching for a simple way to slim their font collection, FONTPICKER is a free and easy way to get the job done.
