Greetings,
Fellow blogger and performance consultant Tom Gram weighs in on e-Learning trends with a blog post entitled, “e-Learning: What’s Hot and What’s Not?”.
Predictions are like buses, There’s usually another one every 15 minutes so, when I see an article like this, I check the qualifications of the prognosticator and Tom’s are very impressive. Besides consulting for a number of Fortune 500 companies he has also taught at the post secondary level. One of his interests centers on the best use learning technologies such as, electronic performance support tools, collaborative learning systems and learning management systems to improve skilled performance in the workplace.
While Mr Gram’s perspective is definitely business oriented, it’s amazing how many of his “Hot” trends (social media and e-Learning 2.0, informal learning, games and simulations, mobile learning and (surprise, surprise) open source learning technologies and tools) mirror the K-12 experience.
It the “What’s Not” category that may generate the most interest, especially in the areas of Learning Objects (remember those) and Learning Management Systems.
