Jane Hart’s, “A Guide To Social Learning”

Greeting,

Ms Jane Hart, the diva of online learning has recently released an article entitled, “A Guide To Social Learning”.

While the article itself is pretty standard faire which, “provides a “history” of e-learning, and where social learning fits in; and its importance in both formal and informal learning and for productivity and performance improvement.” it does contain some good information on the, “the key social media applications, and provides some practical guidance on using the main free tools”

Ms Hart has chose to publish this article, not on her own blog but on a new site labelled the, “C4LPT Social Learning Network”. The C4LPT Social Learning Network is described as, “an integrated platform of social media tools that provides a place for learning professionals to learn from one another and to collaborate on a number of social projects and activities.”

Why are Social Learning Networks in general and the C4LPT Social Learning Network in particular important to Ms Hart? As she explains, “I think that Social Learning Networks will become increasingly important in the near future as organizations struggle to put the social media pieces together in a cohesive fashion across their organization, AND at the same time provide a flexible platform for (formal and informal) social learning, which allows individuals and groups the freedom to use as they wish.”
